The year 1992 was when Amanda Bossard began her research in marine biology at Anchorage at Alaska Pacific University. Bossard's career began in 1999, when she took a job on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65 foot vessel, which was a halibut fishing vessel, was transformed to a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn. He has been fishing commercially for more than twenty years. Bossard is married to Aritan. The couple has joined forces and are claiming their respective fields. Both of them are favour of conserving resources as well as maximising profit. Otolith, a wholesale direct seafood retailer, was founded in 2007 by Bella Bossard (age 3), Andre Bossard (1 year old) as well as Bossard's mom. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after the birth of her two children. She and her husband are separated by five months, and more for her to focus on her financial goals and environmental concerns. Since July of 2016, Bossard along with her daughter Isabella age 12 and son Andre aged 10 returned to Southeast Alaska annually each summer for deckhand work throughout the harvest of wild salmon in the summer. A small 42-salmon trolling vessel using hooks and lines to catch their targeted salmon, they work with Aritan for two months selling to local processors and continuing to increase their direct market seafood items sold via Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way by purchasing custom processing services of small processors who create distinctive wild seafood products that show their commitment to quality and the environment.
